CDK Stone invited Lucy, along with a group of leading Australian design professionals to Carrara for a memorable and immersive visit to some of the region’s renowned marble quarries. Set in Massa-Carrara at the foot of the Apuan Alps, the experience offered a rare insight into the extraction, craft, and heritage of this extraordinary material, including a tour inside the remarkable Canalgrande Quarry.
The scale and beauty of the stone, along with CDK’s generous hospitality made for an unforgettable experience.
As part of her trip, Lucy was thrilled to attend Salone del Mobile in Milan, joining designers and industry leaders from around the world for one of the most significant international furniture and design fairs. With more than 1,900 exhibitors and a vibrant programme of events across the city, the week celebrated innovation and the future of design.
Sustainability was a central focus, with exhibitions highlighting a continued shift towards circular and systemic design. The fair brought together ingenuity, technology and vision, showcasing prototypes and collections that reflect the evolving ways we live and work.

Lucy was also fortunate to be invited by Fanuli to visit furniture factories and headquarters in the Cantu region, including Flexform and Riva 1920, to witness the skill, precision, and craft behind some of Italy’s most celebrated furniture makers. The visit offered a unique insight into the history and ongoing legacy of furniture production, joinery, and design excellence.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful industry colleagues and suppliers for hosting Lucy throughout the week. Thank you to The Local Project, Signorino, Belle Magazine, Australian House & Garden, Fanuli, Cobild Construction, Wood Cut Australia, Boffi, CDK Stone, Gessi, Flexform, Riva 1920, and Molteni for such generous hospitality and for sharing their knowledge.
