Domain Road is an interior renovation project of a triple storey residence in leafy South Yarra.
The ambition for the project was to create a sophisticated yet easy to live in city home for a family. The project included the refurbishment of the main house and private basement apartment. Working within the existing envelope of the building, the brief was to reconfigure the interior to provide clearly defined living zones and fill with contemporary elegant furniture.
The sculptural stair hidden behind the thick masonry wall of the facade provides a sense of fluidity and lightness in the refurbished entry. New walls with recessed sliding doors define the entry space whilst framing the sculptural stair beyond.
The entry leads into a series of spaces including a private sitting room, and an open plan kitchen and family room connected to an outdoor terrace with magnificent city views.
A rich palette of marble, stainless steel and timber is layered against crisp white joinery throughout the house. High quality robust finishes are utilised throughout the house and apartment combined with designer furniture and soft furnishings.
